It was the best of days for the annual seniors match with Prudhoe. The sun shone, the temperatures were not too high (they rarely are), the company and the ‘oldies’ banter so good that the result hardly mattered although, for the record, Allendale did manage to win a close fought match, 6-4.
The images have been kindly supplied by Richard Hannam of Prudhoe Seniors (www.cameraflair.co.uk) and capture the essence of Golf in the Wild – perceptive shot of the day is our Dennis and Geoff, posing in the rough – where else 🙂
Super Sixes Family Competition
Nine couples took part in this family competition where our Junior members invited a family member to join them to play 6 holes of the golf course.
The event was won by Charlie Wilson and his father Davey. The runners up were Ellis Bradley who teamed up with his father, Scott, who was playing in his first ever golf competition.
Northumberland Junior Golf Tour
The latest round of the Northumberland Golf Tour was held at Allendale on Sunday, 30 July.
Some 55 juniors took part in the competition, enjoying the excellent conditions and hospitality that the club is becoming famous for.
Jake Reed was the winner of category one with Haydn in third place. As the merit table shows these two, as well as Carl and Jack Campbell are very well placed in the overall competition.
We wish them well in the final round which is to be held at Hexham Golf Club on 20 August.
Last Saturday saw the inaugural Junior Open sponsored by MKM Building Supplies played at Allendale Golf Club. The event, held on a superb day for golf drew some 30 youngsters from clubs across the county, including Rothbury, Bellingham, Warkworth, Bedlingtonshire and Parklands as well as Hexham and Tynedale.
The Open was designed for players under 14 years of age in two categories – those with official CONGU handicaps and those starting out with junior/academy maximum 54 handicaps.
Mr Derek Telfer, Branch Director of MKM Hexham, was on hand to present the prizes to the winner and runner-up in each of these categories:
“Yellow Tees“ winner: Reuben Law, Rothbury; and runner-up Alfie Twelftree, Matfen Hall.
“Blue Tees” winner: Daniel Twizzel, Tynedale; and runner-up James Brison, Hexham.
