Get into Golf

Our 2018 Taster Sessions are now registered with the new-look Get into Golf website: https://www.getintogolf.org/

“It’s bright, it’s bold and it’s designed to be noticed and inspire people to give golf a go.

It does away with the stuffy, old-fashioned image of golf which puts off so many people. It’s going to bring new players to golf and you can take advantage by getting involved. You’ll raise your club’s profile, generate more income and help us grow the game across England.”

The England Golf consumer launch starts in April.  “That’s when we’ll invest in advertising to let people know about the website and encourage them to start searching for activities.”

Our events four events are scheduled for four consecutive Thursdays: Thursdays, 5.30 pm until 6.30 pm,  24th,  31st May,  7th,  14th June.

Cost is £5/session – £20 upfront
Start time 17:30 for one hour

Junior News

September Medals:   played off the red and blue tees respectively, the results can be found on the website at Juniors/Junior Results.

As the school holidays and beating season are still in progress, the turnout was relatively low but the weather was perfect and the standard of golf in both competitions was particularly strong.

Congratulations to Jack Millar and to Daniel Twizell, both playing in their first competitions since joining the Club.

Regional Junior Competition:  A few days ago I emailed to say that 4 of our Junior Members had qualified to represent Northumberland in the regional competition against Durham and Cumbria.
It was held yesterday at Hartlepool Golf Club and happily for us it was won by Northumberland. For the past 5 years it has been retained by Durham, so it was particularly exciting for Northumberland to win the trophy in 2017.

I am sure that all of you and, in fact, everyone connected with Allendale Golf Club will join me in congratulating Carl Baxter, Jack Campbell, Haydn Rutherford and Jake Reed for playing their part in winning the competition for Northumberland.

Special mention should be made of Jack, who had a very good round and finished overall third in his category so receiving an individual prize.

I think that we should also thank the boys’ parents/family members who have accompanied the boys “around Northumberland” to the different venues throughout the summer.

Apart from Haydn, the other 3 will be too old for this particular competition next year so we are looking to you younger ones to join the Northumberland Golf Tour in 2018 to maintain the standard that these lads have set!!

Kind regards
