Well the excitement of the Chairman v Captain season opener (5th April 10.00 meet) is almost upon us, but there are a couple of things you need to know about also:
Working Party – on Saturday 12th meet 10.00 To Strim and Rake the Plantation with a view to improving the presentation of the course at the start of the season. Anyone with a power strimmer is encouraged to come along and others plaes come prepared to rake and collect the cut grass.
Match v Tynedale GC – We are due to play a Ladies & Gents match away to Tynedale on Saturday 26th April. The teams comprise six Ladies and six Gents and the Ladies have already filled their allocation! At the moment we need TWO Gents to complete the six man team. Places will be allocated on a first come basis, so if you fancy some fun on Tyne Green e-mail your Captain Iain Thompson – email@example.com
Many thanks for your time, and see you at these events!
As we emerge from a surprisingly mild winter (fingers still crossed) it is time to look forward to the 2014 playing season here at the Golf Club.
For Gents and Lady menbers there is the traditional Captain v Chairman match on 5th April, meeting at the clubhouse at 10.00.
For Junior members the first event of the season is the April Junior Medal on 12th April.
Those members who have not yet renewed for this year are reminded that it is important to do so as soon as possible to ensure participation in club competitions.
With this flying start (weather wise) we look forward to a bumper year on the course and I personally look forward to meeting up with members old and new once again.
Enjoy your golfing!
In 2013 the club was approached by the North Pennines AONB with a view to becoming a dark sky site. It was launched on 7th December with a talk in the clubhouse. Sadly the weather prevented us from seeing any stars. The next talk is scheduled for September 2014 but the site is always open for those with telescopes to come and make the most of the darkness. Check out the webcam before you come to see the latest conditions. More information can be found at the North Pennines Stargazing page.
