Well done to everyone who participated in the winning match away to Gosforth on 9th May. The 7-5 win has resulted in the following points standings for the Senior Golfer of the Year (not to be mistaken with the Seniors’ Champion):
Dennis Cousins: 2 pts
Peter Robinson: 2 pts
Cliff Dalton: 2pts
Derek Todhunter: 2 pts
Ian Crocker: 2 Pts
Jim Hall: 2 pts
Mike Carter: 1 pt
Mark Kimberley: 1 pt
We seem to have discovered a winning formula – we win if the captain doesn’t play :-). This will be repeated for the match at Bellingham on Thursday 23rd May where I will be once again absent – this time a planned holiday.
The provisional pairings are:
Dennis Cousins & Peter Robinson
Cliff Dalton & Derek Todhunter
Geoff Edwards & Robin Makepeace
ian Crocker & Mike Metcalfe
Jim Hall & Ray Wilson
Mike Carter & Mark Kimberley
I will email the final details later in the week
After some remarkable weather for golf, it was back to proper Allendale conditions yesterday, except for a lack of wind. Just right for our Junior April Medals off the red and blue tees!
The results are on the Junior Results page – see below. For the first competition and with some new, first time competitors, there was some very good golf played across the board given the wet, trying conditions. Congratulations to winners, Daniel Twizell and Dylan Swaile. Both winners have had their handicaps cut as a result, with Daniel on the edge of gaining his official, National CONGU handicap status.
Elsewhere, it was good to see Owen Forbes and Tom Clarke lowering their handicaps and so many others coming in at or close to net par. So, everything looks set fair for close and high quality competitions among Allendale Golf junior members going forward.
Best of luck to Daniel who is playing at Warkworth today in the first round of the Northern Golf Tour.
The results are listed on the Junior Results page.
Allendale once again entered a junior team in the Texas Scramble at Matfen, a series of 4 separate encounters, held during the winter months. Jake Reed, Carl Baxter, Daniel Twizell, Alfie Mason and Jack Campbell have all played their part.
Last Sunday was the final match and the team, comprising Jake Reed, Daniel Twizell and Alfie Mason, playing against strong opposition, finished equal second with Ravensworth, completing their 9 hole round on par. Even better they won the “nearest to the pin” on the final hole.
Congratulations to Sunday’s team and to all five Juniors for their contribution to the series.
